Fruit of Renewal (Week 6)
September 6, 2020
Ephesians 3:20-21
BIG IDEA (Sermon in a Sentence)
The fruit of renewal is the glory of God and the joy of all peoples.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO “GLORIFY GOD”?
Doxa – praise, honor, worship, magnify
- Illustration: the difference between a microscope and a telescope.
GLORIFIED TRHOUGH US
“Now all glory to God…”
- “He is able… his mighty power… infinitely more…”
- JB Phillips, “God will inevitably appear to disappoint the man who is attempting to use Him as a convenience, a prop, or a comfort, for his own plans. God has never been known to disappoint the man who is sincerely wanting to co-operate with His own purposes.”
- The danger is that we think that we glorify God by what we do for him. But let’s remind ourselves of these verses once again but this time, with the understanding that the result is God being glorified.
- He strengthens us – causes us to know and experience his love, and fills us with his fullness.
GLORIFIED BEYOND US
- “Glory to God in the church…”
- The assembly of diverse people (1 Peter 2:4-5, Ephesians 1:12-14)
- “Glory to God in Jesus”
- Hebrews 1:3-4, Philippians 2:9-11
- “Glorified forever…”
APPLICATION
- Daily – Pray for yourself and others to experience renewal
- Weekly – Contact someone in the church to let them know you are praying for them
- Monthly – Gather with others from the church for a meal
