Psalm 132

 

BROKEN OBEDIENCE (132:1-10)

  • King David asks for God’s favor in light of his hardships in seeking to serve God.
  • David’s obedience was imperfect. Though he desired in his heart to honor God, his disobedient hands gave way to adultery and murder.
  • The Ark of the Covenant (132:6)
    • Assumptions – Israel used God like a good luck charm (1 Samuel 4)
    • Afterthought – King Saul disregarded the Ark during his reign (1 Chronicles 14)
    • Aspiration – King David aspired to seek God (2 Samuel 6, I Chronicles 13)
