Mark 16:1-8

TRUTH OF THE RESURRECTION

• While there are numerous theories attempting to say that Jesus did not really rise from the dead, the historical evidence clearly shows no other explanation.
• Confirmed Death (John 19:33-34) – Jesus din’t just passed out unconscious from the pain.
• Known Tomb (Matthew 27:57-58) – Jesus’ dead body was placed in a known tomb, not some unmarked and unknown grave.
• Known Location (Mark 15:47) – people didn’t accidentally go to the wrong location because they saw where the body was laid to rest.
• Guarded Location (Matthew 27:63-65) – the disciples couldn’t have stolen the body because 16 well-trained Roman Soldiers were guarding the location.

• The resurrection is our hope and joy for all eternity (1 Corinthians 15:14-17)
• Without the resurrection:
  • The gospel has no power
  • Your faith is useless
  • Your sins aren’t forgiven.
• Because Jesus rose:
  • We have hope in death (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14)
  • We have power in life (Romans 6:3-4)
