Who or what will rescue and heal you from what is broken?
REDEMPTION
Everyone has a solution they believe in, a remedy they look to, or a rescuer they believe will save them from the brokenness in their life and the world. Some look to self-improvement or personal growth, believing if they are good enough or do more good than bad than they can earn ‘salvation.’ Others believe in education or politics to change the brokenness in the world. Everyone believes in something or someone who will fix what is broken in ourselves and in our world.
Who or what do you believe will rescue and heal what is broken? God says that we cannot save ourselves (Romans 3:20). There is nothing and no one that can save us from our sin – except for Jesus. It’s like a global pandemic with no vaccine and everyone is infected with a 100% fatality rate.
Jesus is God clothed in humanity – entering our brokenness to restore us to life. Imagine Jesus being willing to give you a blood transfusion – he takes your sin-saturated blood, knowing he will die. He gives you his blood – healthy and full of life. This is what 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us, “For our sake [God] made [Jesus] to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Jesus took our sin and gave us his life.
Jesus takes your death deserving sin upon himself and dies on the cross. By grace, through faith – Jesus gives you his life.
If you knew that you were going to die and the God who created you and love you was willing to lay down his life so that you would live – why would you not trust him? Jesus himself said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Jesus is our rescuer. Jesus is the only hope for our broken world.
